Box Office - 'Inside Out 2' Passes 'Frozen II' (But Not 'The Lion King') to Become The Top-Grossing Animated Movie Ever
The commercial grim circumstances that led Disney to aggresively push their remake of 'The Lion King' as "live-action" back in July of 2019 still apply in July of 2024.
Disney is “calling it.” With $1.462 billion worldwide, Pixar’s Inside Out 2 has passed the unadjusted global cume of Frozen II ($1.45 billion in late 2019) to become the top-earning animated feature ever in raw global earnings. The $200 million sequel also passed $600 million domestic on Tuesday, putting it days away from passing Incredibles 2 ($608 million in 2018) to become the top-earning toon domestically. But is it really the top-earning animated film ever, or should we count Jon Favreau’s $1.66 billion grossing remake of The Lion King?
