Box Office: 'MaXXXine,' 'Possum Trot' and 'Kill' Nab Underwhelming Holiday Debuts

A look at the Independence Day weekend grosses beyond 'Despicable Me 4'

In July 4th weekend box office news that isn't about Despicable Me 4, MaXXXine, Possum Trot and Kill pulled halfway decent grosses without, relatively speaking, living up to their arguable potential. Meanwhile, Inside Out 2 is about to pass Incredibles 2 worldwide as Bad Boys Ride or Die is now right between John Wick: Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4 in North American grosses. A Quiet Place: Day One is playing like a Quiet Place flick while Bikeriders, Kinds of Kindness and Horizon are falling fast. Meanwhile, Thelma continues to kick ass on a curve.
