Box Office: 'Terrifier 3' Tops (With $18M) As 'Joker 2' Drops (A Record 81%)
Art the Clown and Sienna Shaw nabbed the top "too hard for R" unrated debut ever, as Arthur Fleck and Lee Quinn suffered one of the all-time worst 2nd-weekend drops.
Terrifier 3 topped the domestic box office this weekend, while Joker: Folie a Deux suffered a record second-weekend drop for any Marvel/DC film. The former benefited from the latter, even though a $18.3 million opening weekend for an unrated horror movie would be impressive, no matter the ranking. But I won’t begrudge Cineverse getting to tout what is now the #1 movie in America, nor will I ignore the bemusing notion of Art the Clown picking up the baton Arthur Fleck had dropped. Although as a rare horror franchise with both a marquee baddie (David Howard Thorton) and a marquee “final girl” (Lauren LaVera’s Sienna Shaw), the murder mime cannot take all of the credit.
