Box Office: 'Captain America 4' Tops 'Captain America' Amid Harsher Industry-Wide Expectations For An MCU Movie
Ironically, one key advantage the MCU had over DC Films was its initial emergence at a time when superhero flicks weren’t expected to soar to top-tier box office heights.
As of Monday, Captain America: Brave New World has earned $177 million in North America and $372 million worldwide on a reported $180 million budget. I believe the alleged production spend since the film feels much smaller in scope, scale and spectacle than (for example) Wakanda Forever or Iron Man 3. It’s looking to finish with around $195 million in North America – although some “strange” or “supreme” sorcery might push it over $200 million – and $415 million in global grosses. It just passed the unadjusted domestic cume of Captain America: The First Avenger, released in the summer of 2011, when a film featuring the word “America” in the title earning more overseas than stateside could be itself be spun as a triumph.
