'Deadpool & Wolverine' Breaks Its First Box Office Record With $38.5M Thursday
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's superhero sequel nabbed the biggest Thursday gross ever for an R-rated film, and one of the biggest ever period.
Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman as Logan, earned a whopping $38.5 million in Thursday previews. That is the biggest advance-night gross ever for an R-rated feature, towering above the likes of Deadpool 2 ($18.5 million), It ($13.5 million) and Joker ($13.3 million). So once again, Disney cashes in on 20th Century Fox’s artistic and commercial achievement originally born of 20th Century Fox. But can Deadpool 3 become the first R-rated movie to open above $200 million?
