Box Office: 'Elio' Must Show That 'Elemental' Was No Fluke For Pixar Toons

Come what may, Pixar's must-succeed original is probably better positioned for glory following 'Inside Out 2' and 'Moana 2' than had it opened months after 'Wish'.

As expected, Disney is offering the third trailer for Pixar’s Elio. In a skewed reminder that we’re five years out from the unofficial global beginnings of the COVID-19 pandemic, at least so far as it shut down the theater industry, this is another title that has received more trailers than it otherwise might have due to an unexpectedly long delay. Announced at D23 in the summer of 2022, Elio was supposed to open on March 1, 2024, before – due to strike delays – being moved first to June 13, 2025, and then (to avoid a head-to-head showdown with How to Train Your Dragon) June 20, 2025. Let’s hope this goes better, at least commercially than the last time a Pixar original (The Good Dinosaur) was delayed by 1.5 years…
