In today’s too-long Friday box office report…

  • Audiences liked Jason Statham as A Working Man almost as much as they liked him as The Beekeeper (or, adjusted for inflation, The Mechanic).

  • Fathom’s The Chosen: The Last Supper set a new franchise-high single-day gross.

  • The Woman in the Yard, a well-made yet oppressively grim horror melodrama, is just the latest Blumhouse flick to underwhelm compared to their 2010s hot streak.

  • A24’s Death of a Unicorn couldn’t convince casual moviegoers to sample its “Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega versus angry unicorns” horror comedy hook.

  • Princess Mononoke’s reissue will push its lifetime cume past $200 million globally.

  • Disney is well past “the cover-up is worse than the crime” territory in trying to pin Snow White’s inevitable commercial failure on Rachel Zegler.
