'Immaculate' And 'Late Night With the Devil' Break Box Office Records for Neon and IFC
The Sydney Sweeney horror movie opened to $5.3 million while the David Dastmalchian fright flick debuted with $2.8 million
Not only did Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire defy expectations with a $45.2 million domestic debut, but two other smaller horror flicks set new records for their much smaller studios. The Sydney Sweeney-starring religious horror flick Immaculate earned $5.4 million in its domestic debut. While a $5 million launch for a horror film (or a star vehicle for someone being touted as a next-big-thing) wouldn’t usually justify popping the champagne, it’s a record opening weekend for NEON. Likewise, David Dastmalchian’s Late Night with the Devil earned $2.833 million in its domestic debut, which qualifies as a record opening weekend (by a lot, natch) for IFC Films.
