Alas, Lionsgate has tossed Saw IX off its theatrical schedule and replaced it on that September 26, 2025 date with Renny Harlin’s The Strangers – Chapter 2. Does this mean the additional Bloody Disgusting reporting – concerning creative differences and producer in-fighting over the would-be eleventh film in the series, causing an outright implosion for this film and the franchise as it currently exists – is also legit? Well, Lionsgate indirectly commented on that in the presser, noting (in the voice of Billy the Puppet) that “I’ve seen the rumors. They say it’s Game Over. You all should know me better than that. The game is never over.” All due respect, but that’s not quite a denial. Even if this is not the end for Saw, maybe it should be.
