Why That New 'Fantastic Four' Trailer Might Remind You Of 'Fant4stic'
The second trailer for second 'Fantastic Four' reboot played like a grimdark remake of the first reboot. This second trailer for the third reboot plays like a loose remake of first reboot's sequel.
The second trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps is, at a glance, relatively identical to the tease we saw at CinemaCon, except for us getting a different (and less cryptic) “Galactus” reveal. Upon rewatching, while a better trailer than its predecessor, it reminds me most of the second trailer for the last version of Fantastic Four. No, this Disney-released, MCU-adjacent revamp bears little resemblance to the misguided and ill-received grimdark reboot that crashed and burned a decade ago. That Josh Trank-directed film’s second trailer presented it as a grimdark remake of Tim Story’s Fantastic Four. This pitch makes the new movie look like a loose remake of Story’s $301 million-grossing Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
