Those who desire more than just sequels, remakes, and rehashes from Disney’s animation divisions can breathe a sigh of relief. Just days after the release of the second trailer for Universal’s live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon, Disney made a wise decision by moving Pixar’s Elio back a week so it no longer opens on June 13. Now, it will be released on June 20, alongside Sony’s 28 Years Later. I can’t imagine it was easy for Disney to acknowledge that they were the underdog in this particular match-up. However, I’m relieved they did because moving their animated original out of the way of DreamWorks’ nostalgia-chasing remake is the right, smart, and best choice for everyone involved.
