Weekend Box Office: 'Red One' Debuts With $27M Overseas As 'Venom 3' Still Tops And Nears $400M Worldwide
A merciful god ('The Best Christmas Pageant Ever') slightly out-grossed a vengeful god ('Heretic') as both new releases debut with around $11 million in North America.
With Hollywood mostly taking the week off in terms of tentpoles and biggies, understandably considering the unfortunate outcome, Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance was tops again for the third weekend. Once again, rank is arbitrary, and the length of a film’s stay atop the box office is more often about what else is in the marketplace than the film itself. MGM Amazon Studios’ Red One is opening this weekend overseas (with Warner Bros. Discovery distributing) and next weekend in North America, while Paramount’s Gladiator II is opening overseas next weekend and domestically on November 22. If either of those films had been in play this weekend in North America, the domestic charts might have looked a little different regardless of how well The Best Christmas Pageant and Heretic would have performed.
