Listen now | Film critic Michelle Kisner stops by to talk 'Interstellar' (yay), 'Gladiator II' (boo) and why everyone should absolutely see 'The Brutalist' when it arrives at a theater near you.
Michelle is wrong about Warner Archive Blu-rays being print to order. Those discs are pressed and for the most part utilize brand new remasters from either new 4K or 2K scans and digital restorations overseen by George Feltenstien and Warner Motion Picture Imaging group. Most of those discs also come with legacy special features as well. Please let her know.
Great episode, Michelle brought some great insights with her! Re: the discussion of the lack of 90s nostalgia—I have this theory that millennials do not have the same relationship to their childhood touchstones that Gen Xers do, because most of those touchstones never went away. Power Rangers, Spongebob, Pokemon, other Nintendo franchises—these things have been going concerns since the 90s. There was no decades-long cooling off period like there was for G1 Transformers, He-Man, OT Star Wars. The millennials’ Star Wars was the prequels and the franchise has had consistent output since. I don’t know exactly what this means sociologically but there has to be a different relationship to their media when it’s been more consistent instead of a blast from the past 20 years later.
Maybe that could be a new little segment where we talk about movies that are getting special home video releases! Like this week your favorite movie from the 90’s demolition man is getting the big treatment by arrow!!
Loved Michelle on this she should be a regular!! Lisa seems to like her a lot and to have another woman on the show! Thanks for another entertaining episode! I love that Michelle works for those specialty home video release companies that I have asked about in the past
