Oh that’s why Alien Romulus was my least favourite Alien film. It was meant for streaming. *Insert the more you know gif here (and yes, I do think it’s worse than AvP: requiem - at least that movie moved.
While I agree with you that Alien Romulus was not good, it's still a better scenario overall if more of these made-for-streaming movies are released in cinemas first. People can choose to see them there or not (consider Red One), but either way the theatrical release (a) at least brings in some revenue and (b) establishes awareness of the title when it eventually hits PVOD and streaming.
